Q:  Would it be easier or harder for a rocket launched from
          the surface to escape from Mars, compared to the Earth?


         Using the formula and values for mass and radius in 
         the lecture, we find


          The escape velocity from the Earth is   v(Earth)  =  11,181 m/s

          The escape velocity from Mars is        v(Mars)   =   5,019 m/s

 
         So it is much easier to launch a rocket from Mars than
         from the Earth.
