Introduction to Physics 311
- The goals of this course are:
- to learn the basic physical principles of motion, force, and energy
- to acquire skills in solving problems
- You will need to know and use quite a bit of mathematics.
- Be sure to use your textbook wisely: read a section before
we cover the topic in class.
- Yes, it's true: some of the situations described in this course
are oversimplifications, and we ignore a lot of important
factors (such as air resistance).
But the idea is to show you the simple principles which
can be learned in just 10 weeks, and which permit you
to figure out "what happens next?" most of the time.
