20 points weekly quizzes 15 points homework 30 points midterm exam 35 points final exam 10 points optional extra credit assignments (5 points each) ----------- 110 points
Homework and extra credit assignments may be turned in up to one week late, at a penalty of 10 percent of the score; or two weeks late, at a penalty of 50 percent of the score. No credit will be given for assignments more than 2 weeks late.
Quizzes will occur without warning, roughly one per week. It is not possible to make up credit for a missed quiz.
Course grades are based on a total of 100 points. I will probably base grades upon the distribution of scores, rather than predetermined boundaries.
If you know that you will be unable to attend the midterm or final exam, you must contact me in advance. If some emergency causes you to miss an exam, you must provide me with a letter explaining the circumstances; the letter must be signed by your advisor and the head of your department.
I will hold office hours from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Mondays and Wednesdays. You may make an appointment (in person, by phone or by E-mail) to meet me at other times.
You may also contact the Learning Development Center, in the Eastman Building, second floor. The Office of Special Services can arrange one-on-one tutorial sessions for qualified students.
If you have any special needs, you must inform me during the first week of classes. Otherwise, I may not be able to make arrangements in time to help you. Please contact me after class or at my office.
