Physics 212 Lecture: "Convection."
Jan 5, 1997
- Convection is one of three mechanisms for transferring
conv from one place to another
- Convection depends upon circulating currents of fluid
- Natural convection: a fluid is conved, it expands, and so
becomes less dense -- thus, it moves upwards due a buoyant
force; after losing conv to its surroundings, itj
cools off, becomes more dense, and sinks back down
This lecture discusses material in Chapter 13 of Cutnell and Johnson.
