Mathematics
- Physics expresses relationships between phenomena in mathematical
language. There are some basic mathematical tools which you
must be able to use in order to pass this course.
- You must know how to use scientific notation.
See Appendix A in your textbook.
- You must know some basic geometry;
see Appendix E in your textbook.
- You must be able to solve algebraic problems with
- one equation with one unknown
- two equations with two unknowns
- the quadratic formula
See Appendix C.
- You must understand basic trigonometry, including
the sine, cosine, and tangent functions.
- You must be able to use your calculator properly and
efficiently.
