Latex Homework: Mass and angular momentum on all scales

Your assignment is to use LaTeX to create a document which could be submitted to ApJ. The topic: mass and angular momentum.

Consider the following celestial objects:

• asteroid (951) Gaspra
• Ceres
• the Earth
• Jupiter
• the Sun
• Betelgeuse
• 47 Tuc
• Milky Way

These objects span a wide range of masses ... and a wide range of angular momenta. You think that there may be a connection, so, following long-standing astronomical conventions, you decide to make a log-log plot of angular momentum versus mass.

What do you find?

Your job: write a short paper discussing your investigation and results. Your paper must include at least the following components:

• abstract
• text body
• one table
• one graph
• one real, honest-to-goodness reference to a paper in the refereed literature which has at least some relevance

Each student should type his own entire LaTeX source code document, using his own fingers.

• Do NOT cut-and-paste from someone else's text file.
• DO feel free to look at someone else's text file and then type something similar using your own fingers.

You must hand in, in hardcopy, stapled together

• the formatted version of your document
• the LaTeX source code of your document
